Hannah is going into her fourth year at the University of Mary Washington. They are majoring in English : Creative Writing and minoring in History, Digital Studies, and Linguistics. In her free time, Hannah enjoys reading, writing, dancing, and doing outdoor activities.

Kyra is a senior English major with minors in linguistics, digital studies, and law and philosophy. She was born and raised in Springfield, Virginia. She is the copy editor of The Weekly Ringer and will read anything she can get her hands on. She enjoys long walks, baking, bears, and matcha.

Lee is an UMW student entering their senior year. They are double-majoring in Creative Writing, and Communications & Digital Studies. They have worked on several pieces for social media, including a four part video series for UMW’s *Lively* internship program. Lee loves storytelling, acting, and filmmaking. They dream of working in film and television in multiple positions.

Kelso is a rising junior at the University of Mary Washington. As a music major, he plays the piano and participates in the UMW Eagle Pipe Band. When he is not playing music, he enjoys going on walks, learning languages, and doing puzzles. Kelso is excited to be participating in the UMW Digital Media Production in Scotland programme and can’t wait to expand his creativity to the digital world.

Hi! I’m Kaitlyn Griego, a senior at the University of Mary Washington studying Communications and Digital Studies with a minor in Business Administration. I’m passionate about storytelling through video, photography, and digital media, and I love finding creative ways to connect with people through visual content. Outside of school, I work as a social media manager and photographer, where I create content and help tell the stories of the people and organizations I work with. I’m excited to study abroad in Edinburgh to experience a new culture, grow as a creator, and gain a fresh perspective that I’ll bring back to my work in media and storytelling.

A senior CDS and English double major and video production veteran, Owen specializes in “doing too much” and “typing real fast”. Friends and fans note his lengthy fingers and vocal resemblance to a cartoon skeleton. He is president of UMW’s Film Club, and enjoys drawing, late-night Taco Bell runs and getting aggravated at video games.

Riley is a senior at UMW, double-majoring in Communication and Digital Studies and Studio Art. She has big dreams for the world of creativity. Growing up in Northern VA allowed some amazing opportunities for her to practice videography and art skills, and now she’s in love with both. Hoping to travel the world, Riley has been working to save up and experience life as much as possible. She loves animals, drawing, video games, and movie watching. She could sit and film/edit videos for hours on end and never get bored.

Madison Ashby is a senior at the University of Mary Washington majoring in Communications and Digital studies with a minor in Pre-Law and Philosophy. An aspiring attorney, she spends her free time debating important topics that fall anywhere between advocating for universal human rights to why LeBron James should be considered unanimous the GOAT. With the talent to be able to make friends with a brick wall, Madison is looking forward to her very first time in Europe and connecting with her classmates.

Lyla is a senior at the University of Mary Washington. She is majoring in Communications and Digital Studies, and minoring in German language. Originally from New Hampshire, she moved to Reston, Virginia, and has called it home since 2019. Lyla has experience in radio broadcasting with WMWC campus radio, which she has been a member of for all four years of college. Lyla’s hobbies include playing guitar, getting coffee with friends, and curating playlists for the perfect walk around campus.

J.D. has taught in UMW’s Communication and Digital Studies Department since 2021, with classes focused primarily on video production, documentary, critical media literacy, and non-profit campaign work. Before moving to Virginia, he lived in Texas, Massachusetts, Colombia, Oregon, Guatemala, and Georgia, working as both an instructor and a public radio operations manager. Most recently, he and a team of students produced a documentary focused on data center development in the Fredericksburg area.
