J.D. has taught in UMW’s Communication and Digital Studies Department since 2021, with classes focused primarily on video production, documentary, critical media literacy, and non-profit campaign work. Before moving to Virginia, he lived in Texas, Massachusetts, Colombia, Oregon, Guatemala, and Georgia, working as both an instructor and a public radio operations manager. Most recently, he and a team of students produced a documentary focused on data center development in the Fredericksburg area.
